Jakie is originally from North Carolina where he received his BA in Theatre from Appalachian State University. He has an MFA in Acting from Louisiana State University where he was a Board of Regents Fellow. While at LSU he was a founding company member of the Swine Palace Theatre led by Barry Kyle of the RSC. For the past 12 years he has been a professional actor, director, teacher, and fight choreographer in the DFW metroplex.
In DFW Jakie has been a professor of acting at Texas Wesleyan, University of North Texas, Tarrant County College, and KD Studios. Jakie served as the Director of Drama at Tarrant County College-Northeast where his production of Neville’s Island was a regional finalist at KCACTF in 2005. For the last year Jakie has worked as an actor in The Illusion, The Taming of the Shrew, and A Christmas Carol at the Dallas Theater Center; The Pillowman, and Stones in His Pockets (Top Ten Choice of the year by Dallas Morning News and FW Star- Telegram) at Stage West; Prison Break for Fox TV, and directed the world premiere of the musical Treasure Island at Casa Manana.
